Via Surfer.com: Chris Hemsworth Surfs ‘Best Wavepool on the Planet’

Thor (once again) lays down hammers. This time? Brazil.

When he’s not on set, Chris Hemsworth, the absurdly muscled Australian actor best known for playing the Norse god Thor in the Marvel movies, likes to surf. In fact, he’s kind of a surfing fanatic.

And so, he recently made his way down to Brazil, where he sampled the goods at what many are calling “the best wavepool in the world,” Boa Vista; check it out below:

Per PerfectSwell, the technology from American Wave Machines that powers the pool at Boa Vista, they captioned the highlight reel of Thor throwing hammers:

“If you didn’t know already, now you do, @chrishemsworth rips. During a recent visit @boavistavillage, the Australian native and prolific actor sampled several wave types, laying down hammers across the board.”

Hemsworth’s take on Boa Vista Village: “It’s probably the best wavepool on the planet.”

Surf commentator Selema Masekela commented: “Thor is a damn weapon.”

It’s not Hemsworth’s first visit to a wavepool; like hordes of pro surfers, he recently traveled to the Middle East and sampled the much-coveted, much-hyped, Kelly Slater-powered Surf Abu Dhabi. He also hit Wavegarden’s Alaia Bay in the Swiss Alps.

As for this clip from Boa Vista Village, which is located near São Paulo, Brazil, Hemsworth was actually ripping, not just surfing good…for a celebrity. He was throwing down face-melting hacks, lengthy tubes, and even a couple reverses.Thor can surf. No question. Best celebrity surfer in the game? Perhaps.

Regarding Hemsworth’s surfing life, in a recent interview for GQ, he said: “I’ve always loved surfing. It’s one of the few things that holds my attention completely and in its entirety. There’s a cleansing every time I get in the water. If I’m having some sort of inner conflict or turmoil, it’s the one place I go. There’s a feeling of starting again.”

“There are far worse addictions out there.”
